Winter break camps offered at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center

The Pacific Science Center is offering camps during Christmas break at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center.

Winter Break Camps at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center are Dec. 19-30 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1625 118th Ave. S.E. in Bellevue.

First and second graders will discover innovative ways to incorporate trees, flowers and shrubs into works of art Dec. 26-30 in our Natural Creations break camp.

Little scientists learn how to extract colorful dyes, dabble with art that blends into the natural world, delve into detailed drawings and craft cool creations using recycled materials.

In our Winter Treks: Search and rescue break camp, Dec. 20-21, sixth to eighth graders have the opportunity to meet with a real search and rescue team and master the use of important winter rescue tools like avalanche transponders, snow probes and global positioning systems.

On day two, campers head up to Snoqualmie Pass to practice some real life rescue scenarios.
