As the snowflakes fell on Sunday afternoon into Monday, Jan. 16 most Island residents were able to enjoy the holiday playing in the snow, or simply enjoying it from inside.

The winter weather is expected to continue into this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the greater Puget Sound area through Wednesday night.

Snow accumulation of several inches could be expected into Tuesday afternoon with more snow falling late Tuesday and into Wednesday.

Mercer Island schools and other local schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, but could change depending on the weather. Check for closure information at www.schoolreport.org or watch our website for possible changes.
