Top Mercer Island police officers honored

At Friday's Mercer Island Police employee recognition ceremony, the following were honored as voted on by their peers.

The officer of the year award went to Officer Michael Vickers; support employee of the year was awarded to marine patrol technician Greg Levinson and supervisor of the year is Ryan Parr.

Commander’s Award winners (for excellent work during 2011) went to Sgt. Jeff Magnan, Sgt. Keith McDonough, Sgt. Brian Noel, Corporal Dave Herzog and records specialists Jolene Maggard and Kelly Donnelly.

Also of note, the parks maintenance department was given a certificate of appreciation for their assistance to the police department during the past year. Officers Michael Vickers, Rob Jira and Mike Seifert were given letters of recognition for their assistance to the emergency management/preparedness program, officer Shawn Griffin received a certificate of appreciation for his work in the Eastside Narcotics Task Force over the past five years and Sergeant Marc Marcroft and officer Chris DeChant received a letter of recognition for a marine patrol response during Seafair.
