A Mercer Island motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday morning in an accident in Everett.

The 24-year-old man was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center.

The crash took place on Highway 526, Boeing Freeway, near Airport Road around 7:30 a.m. when the motorcyclist was moving from the on-ramp from Airport Road onto the highway, when he lost control. Both the bike and rider slid across the highway. The motorcycle came to rest against the jersey barrier without being hit by cars driving on the highway, but the rider was hit by a Subaru as it drove through the scene.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 526 were closed for over an hour while Everett Police investigated.

Currently no charges or citations have been issued.
