The annual Fall Recycling Event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mercer Island boat launch.

The event, one of two every year, allows Island residents to bring recyclable items to be dropped off at the boat launch.

This year, along with the regular items which can be recycled, several new items have been added to the approved list.

Islanders can drop off mattresses for $10 each, as well as Styrofoam and packing peanuts. Clean scrap wood, such as milled lumber, plywood or pallets will also now be accepted.

To see a complete list of the items that will be accepted, and those that will not be, visit the City of Mercer Island's website.
