Lottery tickets a hot item at Mercer Island Jacksons

Washington Lottery ticket sales have increased at the Mercer Island Jacksons convenience store over the past two days. Several customers have even bought hundreds of tickets all at once, hoping to increase their chances of winning the Powerball, the $550 million jackpot to be drawn today, Nov. 28. One Powerball ticket costs $2.

Jacksons sold $2,500 worth of tickets yesterday, said store manager Shahin Eighani. Sales from 6 a.m. this morning to early afternoon had already reached $2,200.

"Everyone is trying to be a millionaire," Eighani said.

Other jackpots to be drawn today are the $2.3 million Lotto and $130,000 Hit 5.

Lottery tickets are also available at both Mercer Island QFCs, Albertsons and the Sunset Highway Chevron station.
