Recent upgrades in lighting and boilers at Islander Middle School and Mercer Island High School results in a projected annual savings of over $14,000 for the Mercer Island School District.
An engineering firm released the amount of savings, $14,258, after they began tracking information in May 2010.
The district replaced metal halide high bay fixtures in the main, auxiliary and gymnastics gym with T8 lamps and occupancy senors at both schools and upgraded the existing boilers.
