On Wednesday, March 27, Mercer Island police were notified by the Mercer Island School District that students reported a 15-year-old male student made threats to harm fellow Mercer Island High School students and the school. He did not have a weapon.

The school district exercised extraordinary caution and placed the student on emergency removal pending a police investigation of the incident.

Mercer Island police officers and detectives responded to the school and contacted the student. The student was arrested and booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center and is facing charges of harassment and threats.

A police investigation revealed that the student did not have access to weapons as threatened and did not represent an immediate harm to students or school faculty members.

Police had no further information available.
