King County creates new task force to investigate police shootings

King County and other local police agencies have teamed up to create a new task force to investigate police shootings.

The new group will be called the King County Investigative Response Team and will begin work this summer as a multi-jurisdiction task force that will investigate officer-related shootings.

The areas involved include: King County Sheriff's Office, Bellevue Police, Washington State Patrol, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, Bothell, Mercer Island, Snoqualmie and Black Diamond.

The task force will use best practices formed by the Washington Association of Sheriff's and Police Chiefs to investigate police shootings and major incidents.
