Mercer Island Thrift Shop remodel open houses set for Aug. 13, Aug. 28

The Mercer Island Thrift Shop will host two open houses in August about the expansion of the store.

The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a second on Aug. 28 from 3 to 5 p.m.The meetings will take place at the Thrift Shop.

Both meetings will include a brief presentation.

City staff is hoping to gather input on the purposed remodel changes the current Thrift Shop building. The remodel goals include: reducing constricted traffic flow on S.E. 34th Street, increasing parking for people using the park and Thrift Shop customers, while also reducing street congestion, creating a separate donation drop-off zone, improving the storefront appearance and increasing revenues which help fun MIYFS counseling services.
