The Mercer Island Department of Youth and Family Services is holding the second of two public meetings to solicit input on the proposed remodel of the Thrift Shop. The meeting is set between 3 and 5 p.m., Aug. 28, at the shop.  There will be a brief presentation. City planners hope to achieve the following:

• Reduce constricted flow of traffic on S.E. 34th Street.

• Increase parking for park patrons and Thrift Shop customers while reducing street congestion.

• Create separate donation drop-off area.

• Improve storefront appearance.

• Increase revenues, which directly underwrite YFS counseling services.
