Mercer Island traffic alert - students head back to school Tuesday, Sept. 3

Mercer Island drivers should be prepared for extra traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 3 as students in the Mercer Island School District go back to class.

Elementary schools will start at 9:10 a.m., while middle school starts at 8:25 a.m. for sixth graders and 11:25 a.m. for seventh and eighth graders. High school freshman will begin the day at 8 a.m., while sophomores through seniors begin at 11:30 a.m.

Drivers should prepare for higher traffic volumes around school sites, as well as watching out for extra children walking on local roads to school.
