As temperatures reached into the 80s and beyond, Islanders hit the beaches and pools throughout Mercer Island. At Luther Burbank park on Sunday, Islanders made good use of the sand and water to sun and swim. As the July 4 holiday approaches, temperatures are expected to cool down a bit. And for the Fourth, the Kiwanis are selling fireworks in the parking lot at Rite Aid. City officials remind revelers that fireworks are not allowed in city parks or on school property.
