Information for parents of new Kindergarten students now available

The Mercer Island School District hosted an information session Jan. 27 for parents of incoming 2014-15 kindergarten students. Parents who missed that session can still get an information packet online or can pick up information packets and enrollment forms at any of the district’s three elementary schools or the administration building.

“The community is clearly excited about another year of kindergarten and we are thrilled to welcome our newest learners,” said Director of Learning Services Fred Rundle. “We do encourage parents to register during the early enrollment period because it helps us determine our staffing needs and allows us to notify parents of their student’s school as soon as April.”

Students entering kindergarten must reach the age of 5 on or before Aug. 31 to register. Early enrollment will take place starting today, Jan. 28, until Feb. 14 at each elementary school or the administration building. The normal registration period will be open from Feb. 15 through Sept. 2.

Additionally, there will be an elementary visitation day for parents on May 16 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at each elementary school.
