Arrests

A 38-year-old Tent City resident was arrested around 11 p.m. on Aug. 25 for shoving and threatening to kill his wife, who also lives in Tent City, during an argument in the 2300 block of 71st Avenue S.E.

A 30-year-old Kent woman was arrested at 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 22 for driving with a suspended license in the 7700 block of S.E. 32nd Street. She was initially detained for an equipment violation. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were discovered in her vehicle, and she was taken to the Issaquah jail.

A 23-year-old Seattle man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the 2300 block of 60th Ave. S.E. during the night of Aug. 26. Marijuana bags and a pipe with unburned marijuana were discovered in his vehicle. After processing, he was transported to his grandparents’ house on Mercer Island, and his vehicle was turned over to a passenger.

Assault

Police failed to locate and arrest a 41-year-old Mercer Island woman for assault after she left her residence in the 8200 block of S.E. 33rd Place during the night of Aug. 22. The woman, who had been arrested in the past, had punched and injured her husband during an argument. The couple had been drinking.

Thefts

A catalytic converter and muffler, worth $350, were stolen from a 44-year-old Woodinville woman’s vehicle when it was parked underground in the North Mercer Way Park & Ride between 8:15 a.m. and 3 p.m., Aug. 28.

A 62-year-old man’s Subaru was stolen out of his driveway in the 7200 block of W. Mercer Way during the night of Aug. 26. Another vehicle parked next to it was prowled.

A 52-year-old woman reported that her house was robbed in the 4200 block of Shoreclub Drive during the night of Aug. 15. Among the items stolen were a briefcase, sapphire rings, a Dell laptop, Nikon camera and photographs. A friend of the woman’s juvenile son was arrested at 2:30 p.m., Aug. 22, for stealing the laptop. The woman’s son paid $400 to get his laptop back from his friend. The losses total $4,000.

Malicious mischief

A police officer contacted a juvenile male, who was swinging a wooden sword, in the 2700 block of 80th Avenue S.E. at 2:45 a.m., Aug. 23. The teenager confessed that he and several friends were responsible for damaging political signs at that intersection. He was then released to his mother, and an investigation is pending, according to the police report.

Auto accidents

A collision occurred in the 7800 block of S.E. 27th Street when a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot into eastbound traffic and struck a car just before 10 a.m. on Aug. 22. The 62-year-old driver of the vehicle said that she did not see the oncoming car.

A hit-and-run incident took place when the rear window of a parked Nissan Maxima was smashed by a falling tree limb just after 2 p.m., Aug. 22, in the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. The vehicle’s owner witnessed a large, northbound truck break off the tree limb, which was hanging over the road.

An overturned vehicle was towed out of a ditch in the 4500 block of W. Mercer Way at 12:30 p.m., Aug. 24, after its driver lost control around a corner in rainy weather. The young man was charged with driving too fast for the conditions.

A woman found a long scratch on the passenger side of her vehicle after she returned to a parking garage in the 7900 block of S.E. 28th Street during the morning of Aug. 25.

A 49-year-old Mercer Island woman was charged with “unsafe backing” for hitting a passing vehicle as she backed out of a parking stall in the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street at 4:40 p.m., Aug. 25. The woman claimed that a large balloon in her backseat obstructed her vision.

A 67-year-old Mercer Island woman was hit as she was crossing 76th Avenue S.E. in a motorized wheelchair, at the intersection of S.E. 27th Street, just before 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25. The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle said that she had checked for oncoming cars but did not see the woman. The vehicle’s bumper trim showed damaged. The pedestrian was treated at the site for pain in her left knee.

A two-car collision occurred in the intersection of E. Mercer Way and S.E. 68th Street when a vehicle pulled away from a stop sign into oncoming traffic at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 27. The 47-year-old driver, who wanted to leave room for a delivery truck making a turn, was charged with “failing to yield,” according to the police report. The 41-year-old victim’s vehicle was towed.

Another two-car collision occurred in the intersection of S.E. 30th Street and 67th Ave. S.E. when a 16-year-old driver “failed to yield the right of way,” according to the police report, at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 27. A skid mark measuring 13 feet and 7 inches was left on the road before the intersection. The 60-year-old victim’s vehicle was towed.

Car prowls

A 46-year-old Issaquah woman’s car was prowled in the Stroum Jewish Community Center’s parking lot at 3801 E. Mercer Way between 2:45 and 4 p.m. on Aug. 22. One of the vehicle’s windows was broken, and a laptop computer was stolen from the front seat area.

A car owned by a 22-year-old Bothell woman was also prowled in the JCC’s parking lot between 2 and 4 p.m., Aug. 22. One of its windows was broken, and a Nikon digital camera was stolen along with a new laptop.

A 49-year-old Mercer Island woman reported that two of her vehicle’s windows were shattered in the 7000 block of 80th Ave. S.E. at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 28. The damages total $600. Fingerprints were taken.

Found

A box of long-rifle ammunition was found by a 71-year-old Mercer Island woman during the process of moving in the 7600 block of 79th Ave. S.E. on Aug. 27. The woman said she thinks the ammunition, which will be destroyed, is “very old and [she] has no further use for it,” according to the police report.

A 49-year-old woman reported finding computer parts dumped on the road in front of her house in the 4200 block of Mercerwood Drive at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 23.

Fraud

A 44-year-old Mercer Island man reported identity theft over $1,500 after an unidentified person tried using his credit card for a purchase on the Internet just before 4:30 p.m., Aug. 15.

Unauthorized credit card accounts were opened between July 25 and Aug. 22 in a 23-year-old Mercer Island man’s name by a business partner, who had obtained the man’s personal information.

Suspicious circumstance

A window of a 41-year-old woman’s car was broken at her residence in the 3200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. during the night of Aug. 18. No items were missing, and the suspect did not enter the vehicle.
