A 19-year-old Island resident was jailed for strangling his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend while in his driveway in the 7600 block of S.E. 40th Street around midnight on July 3. According to the police report, an 18-year-old witness corroborated the victims story, and the suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail.
Two young Island men are suspected of assaulting and threatening two Bellevue teens at their home in the 8400 block of North Mercer Way on the night of July 11.
Police arrested a 65-year-old Island resident for driving under the influence of alcohol after they found him asleep behind the wheel of his black Hummer with the engine still running around 1 a.m. on July 4 in the 7700 block of the Sunset Highway. According to the police report, the man was checked by Bellevue medics and Island aid crews and claimed to have suffered a diabetic episode. After police determined that he had been drinking, they arrested him and released him to his adult daughter when medics cleared his condition.
A Kirkland man was arrested just before midnight for operating a marine vessel while drunk on Lake Washington on July 4 after he was stopped by the Islands marine patrol for a wake violation near Medina.
A 20-year-old Island resident was arrested for possessing an open container of beer in his car and possessing alcohol as well as a marijuana pipe after police stopped him in the 8000 block of North Mercer Way around midnight on July 16.
Police confiscated two packs of illegal rocket fireworks and a pack of mortar shells from a home in the 6200 block of East Mercer Way around 3:30 p.m. on July 4.
A garbage can at the Boys & Girls Club was completely destroyed by fireworks sometime over the Fourth of July weekend. According to the police report, plastic pieces were dispersed in multiple directions of the blast and the replacement cost is about $100.
Six Island teens lit a paper bag full of bottle rockets on fire in the 5300 block of Island Crest Way around 2 a.m. on July 19. According to the police report, the teens identifications were taken and they were released to their parents.
A white SUV with an out-of-state license plate drove off without paying for gas at a Town Center gas station on 78th Avenue S.E. around 9:30 p.m. on July 5.
$1,000 was stolen using an Islanders debit card as two separate $500 withdraws were made on July 4 and 5. According to the incident report, the victim did not have a missing debit card and another unsuccessful $800 withdraw was attempted.
A 50-year-old Island residents car was stolen while it was parked at City Hall during the evening of July 19 as the owner was out taking a walk. According to the police report, the car was locked but the thief used a spare key left in the glove box to steal the car.
A stolen Porsche 911 was found abandoned in the 7200 block of North Mercer Way around 2:40 p.m. on July 18.
A rented trombone was stolen from a home in the 4200 block of Crestwood Place sometime between June 13 and July 6.

A glass bottle of sparkling wine was thrown through the rear window of a Mercedes Benz parked in the 3700 block of 88th Avenue S.E. on the night of July 18.
A 12-year-old Island resident was caught spray-painting graffiti at the Mercerdale skate park on the afternoon of July 14.
A 23-year-old construction worker lost his wallet, which contained his ID, debit card and $1,000 in cash, near the Farmers Insurance parking lot during the workday on July 16.
