Police investigation is pending

The body of a man found dead, floating under the East Channel Bridge of Interstate 90 the evening of Oct. 21, has been identified. The death of 37-year-old Richard L. Kennedy of Renton has been ruled a drowning, a representative of the King County Medical Examiner's office said Friday.

However, the cause and circumstances of the drowning are pending further investigation.

Mercer Island Police responded to a call at about 5:45 p.m. Oct 21. The caller reported the body floating in the water. The body had washed ashore by the time police arrived, about 10 minutes later, according to a police report.
