Mercer Island police divers recovered the body of a Kirkland man last Tuesday believed to have drowned in Lake Washington Sunday, Sept. 11.

Divers recovered the body of William Taylor in about 70 feet of water 100 yards off the Luther Burbank Park docks. Side scan sonar equipment was used to locate the body.

Taylor, 36, jumped into the lake when one of his dogs, which was wearing a life jacket, went into the water. Taylor, who was not wearing a life jacket, never resurfaced.

Two boaters discovered Taylor's 3-year-old son in his boat, recovered the overboard dog and called police.
