Hail all Hogwarts students and wizard-wannabes. Get your magic wands ready and paint a lightning bolt on your forehead for Mercer Island Potterfest.

The city Parks and Recreation Department, Mercer Island Library, Island Books and the Mercer Island Reporter are sponsoring the event Friday, July 15, to mark the release of the latest Harry Potter book, ``Half-Blood Prince.''

Potterfest kicks off at 8:30 p.m. at Mercerdale Park, where the winners of the ``Enchanted Island'' teen writing contest will be announced. Winners in the three age categories will have their stories published in the Reporter.

The movie ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'' will be shown outdoors immediately following the announcements.

Island Books will be selling the latest installment in the Harry Potter series, ``The Half-Blood Prince,'' at midnight.
