Approximately 340 Mercer Island High School seniors will receive their diplomas tomorrow evening at the graduation ceremony to be held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. After graduation, the Class of '05 will be scattered across the nation and the globe. But more than a third will remain nearby at jobs and colleges within Washington state. More than 60 Islanders will attend the University of Washington.

Others are going as far away as New Zealand, Israel, Ireland and Japan to continue their studies. Across the country, Mercer Island grads will attend the U.S. Naval Academy, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, Stanford and Renton Technical College.

Others are following their passions attending schools and academies as varied as the students themselves. They include film-making school, Pilchuck School of Glass, drama and design academies, and culinary arts school. Some are planning to volunteer and travel.
