Dave Hatch, president of the Mercer Island Lions Club, presented the Boys & Girls Club with a $7,000 check at its February Board of Directors meeting.

Each December, the Boys & Girls Club partners with the Lions Club for its annual Christmas Tree sale. Boys & Girls Club board members, staff and club members volunteer to help the Lions Club sell trees to the community. In return, the Lions Club donates part of its earnings to the Boys & Girls Club.

``This is a great example of a true community partnership -- organizations working together to help the youth of the community. It was inspiring to see the Lions along with some of our board members braving the elements and pulling together at the tree sale to support kids,'' said Todd Bale, Boys & Girls Club executive director. ``We are proud of our relationship with the Lions Club, and thank them for their generous and continued support of our mission to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential.''
