Island Crest Way and Merrimount drop-in meeting

Join the city of Mercer Island and the Island Crest Way Citizen Panel at a community drop-in meeting to learn about the Citizen Panel’s recommendation on how to improve the Island Crest Way intersection with Merrimount. The meeting is open to public comment and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, at the Community Center at Mercer View.

Chamber lunch to focus on I-90 closures

Join your neighbors at noon on Thursday, March 5, at the Community Center at Mercer View for a presentation about the I-90 closures planned for May and July, the proposed Mercer Island Transit Station and what all of this means to Islanders.

Speakers at the luncheon will include representatives from Sound Transit, WSDOT and the city of Mercer Island. RSVP to the Chamber office, 232-3404, or via e-mail, mi_chamber@msn.com, by March 3.

Cakes and dolls

Celebrate Hina Matsuri, the Japanese Doll Day Festival, at 3:30 p.m., March 2, at the library. Children ages 8 and up are invited to bring a favorite doll and learn how the Japanese festival is celebrated. And sing Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! at 7 p.m., March 2, also at the library. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with books, activities, birthday cake for ages 4 and up. For more information call the library at 236-3537 or go to www.kcls.org.
