Mercer Island Police Blotter | April 29


A 24-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence in the 5000 block of 90th Avenue S.E. on April 20. According to the police report, an officer suspected that the woman was intoxicated when she put her hazard lights on to make a left turn. The officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants when speaking to the woman. She admitted that she had drunk a few beers and agreed to a standard field sobriety test, which she failed. The woman was arrested and transported to the Mercer Island Police Department. A computer check revealed that she had been driving with a suspended license.

A Seattle woman was pulled over and arrested in the 2800 block of 78th Avenue S.E. on April 20 after a police radio check revealed that she had a Bellevue Police Department misdemeanor warrant to her name. The $500 warrant was confirmed, and the subject was turned over to the Bellevue Police Department.

Mercer Island Police received a noise complaint from a resident in the 6700 block of S.E. 25th Street on April 21. According to the incident report, an officer arrived on the scene and found a parked car with five occupants in it. Upon investigation, the officer discovered that two of the occupants were in possession of marijuana. The two men, a 21-year-old and an 18-year-old, were arrested and later released to their parents. A jar with marijuana stems, a pipe with burnt marijuana residue, two pocket scales and less than 40 grams of marijuana were taken as evidence.


A man in the 7700 block of East Mercer Way reported that the passenger side window of his Honda Pilot was broken into on April 19. According to the police report, the thief smashed the passenger side window and stole a duffel bag from inside. The bag contained miscellaneous baby supplies and a cell phone. Approximate loss is $200.

A man living in the 7200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. reported that his generator had been stolen. The man noticed that the generator was missing from his yard on April 21. He said that he had last seen the generator three weeks prior. Approximate loss is $1,999.

A woman living in the 2700 block of 71st Avenue S.E. reported that her house had been broken into on April 20 while she was at work. The thief made a forced entry through a window in the back of the house. There were no stolen items listed in the police report.

An employee of Albertsons reported that an unidentified man walked out of the store with a shopping basket full of cosmetic products on April 23. According to the report, the man walked out with $200 of Oil of Olay cosmetics.


A 59-year-old Island woman reported that somebody had fraudulently charged $330 to her credit card sometime between April 16 and April 19. According to the report, the victim noticed several unauthorized charges on her card. She promptly cancelled her card.


A member of St. Monica Church reported that somebody shot at the school building several times with a BB or pellet gun sometime during the evening of April 16. According to the police report, a pane glass window was broken by the BBs or pellets.

Lost property

A man turned in a small wallet containing $48 to the Mercer Island Police Department on April 20. The man said he found the wallet in the Lid Park near the tennis courts. There were no identification cards in the wallet or other contents besides the cash. The wallet and money were booked as found property in the MIPD evidence room.
