McDonough is Marine Officer of 2009

Mercer Island Police Sergeant Keith McDonough has been honored as the 2009 Recreational Boating Safety Marine Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. McDonough stood out among officers across the state for his “outstanding professional skills and abilities as the leader of the MIPD Marine Unit.” With this award, McDonough is eligible for further recognition at both the regional and national level.
McDonough has been the supervisor of the MIPD Marine Unit for the past four years and a marine patrol officer for 13 years. Among other things, he has been instrumental in the organization and implementation of the annual Seafair Boating Under the Influence Emphasis patrol. He also leads the department’s boating/water safety education and outreach program and has taught water safety to over 1,800 students in the past two years.
