JUNE 22

THEFT: At 8:26 p.m. a Mercer Island woman reported that someone had smashed her driver-side window and taken her Vera Bradley purse, which contained cash and a personal checkbook. The caller had parked her Honda in the 7100 block of 87th Avenue S.E. for three hours while at the Mercer Island Country Club.

THEFT: At 7:55 p.m. a Bellevue woman reported that someone had smashed in the passenger-side window of her Jetta and taken a white Coach purse, which contained a wallet. The purse had been in plain view on the passenger seat while the car was parked on the west side of Pioneer Park in the 6500 block.

JUNE 27

FIRE: At 6:44 p.m. the Mercer Island Fire Department received a report of a brush fire in Mercerdale Park. The fire was extinguished and there were “no obvious signs of arson or intentional ignition.”

BIKE ACCIDENT: At 4:30 p.m. the Mercer Island Fire Department and a Mercer Island police officer responded to a call for a one-person bicycle accident in the 7900 Block of North Mercer Way. A Burien woman, 39, was riding westbound when she struck an unknown object — possibly a rock — that caused her to fall from her bike. She was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, including abrasions and a twisted knee.
