As of 4:30 p.m. Monday 57,500 votes had been counted in the race. According to County Elections communications specialist Katie Gilliam, about five percent of the votes cast remained to be counted as of Tuesday at Reporter press time.
With the vote so close, King County Republicans began over the weekend to organize an effort to help validate voter signatures. An e-mail by King County Republican Chair Lori Sotelo was sent to gather volunteers for the final voter tabulation.

In the center is a large table with an animated group that obviously meets regularly to discuss the issues of the day. She smiles as she passes. It is apparent that Maxwell feels at home at the table.
Washington State Senate candidate Steve Litzow wears a pedometer as he doorbells throughout the five-city region of the 41st Legislative District. The device shows that Litzow, a two-term Mercer Island City Councilman, has walked 749 miles. He is not only a seasoned campaigner, but a thinner one. He has lost 13 pounds.
