County elections director to seek re-election
January 25, 2011 · Updated 12:27 PM
King County Elections Director Sherril Huff, elected in 2009 following voter approval of a measure to create a nonpartisan position accountable to voters, will run for re-election this fall for a full four-year term.
Huff, a longtime elections leader first hired to modernize and reform the office in 2005 before running for the position, has focused on improving ballot tracking and security, improving counting efficiency, and ensuring that all voters are able to participate in vote by mail elections.
She also led the transition to all vote by mail elections.
Huff will formally launch the campaign with a kickoff later this spring, and plans to campaign actively throughout the county.
