HOV violator flees Mercer Island cops via pedestrian path | Police Blotter

March 26

DEATH INVESTIGATION: A woman was found dead in her apartment in the 3000 block of 81st Place SE at 8:48 a.m.

PROWLING: A vehicle was entered and searched in the 9000 block of W. Shorewood Drive at 1:37 p.m. Car wash cards were stolen, for a loss of $20.

March 27

THEFT: A victim in the 6000 block of 78th Ave. SE said at 10:02 a.m. that her mailbox was pried open and mail was stolen, for a loss of $227.

MISCHIEF: An unknown suspect threw a rock or shot a BB/pellet gun at a window next to a front door in the 5000 block of 90th Ave. SE at 8:34 a.m. The window was shattered, but no entry was made into the building.

IDENTITY THEFT: A man in the 6100 block of 79th Ave. SE said at 10:16 a.m. that someone had been attempting to change his mailing address through the post office, and recently tried to open a debit card from his Boeing credit union account.

TRAFFIC: Police contacted a driver for violating the I-90 HOV-only off-ramp restriction in the 2600 block of 80th Ave. SE at 5:23 p.m. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to get away, eventually going northbound on Sunset Highway to the culdesac in the 7800 block. The vehicle went up over the curb and across the pedestrian paths and landscaping, causing damage. The car left tracks on the pavement indicating it went north on 80th Avenue Southeast.

March 29

DUI: Police contacted a subject at 11:35 p.m. in the 7600 block of SE 27th St. They refused field sobriety tests and were arrested for DUI at the scene of a car versus pole collision. A blood draw warrant was obtained. The suspect was released to a sober adult.

March 31

PROWLING: At 1:24 p.m., a woman reported that her vehicle was prowled in a parking garage in the 2500 block of 76th Ave. SE. Two windows were broken, and two purses were stolen.

THEFT: A cell phone was reported stolen at 7:39 p.m. in the 3000 block of 80th Ave. SE.

April 1

PROWLING: A victim reported a car prowl and theft at 2 p.m. in a parking garage in the 7600 block of SE 27th St.

DUI: Police did an area check for a possible DUI suspect in the 3900 block of westbound I-90 at 10:33 p.m. They located the vehicle and observed traffic violations, conducting a traffic stop and arresting the subject on suspicion of DUI.

April 3

MISCHIEF: Multiple mailboxes were broken open in the 7400 block of E. Mercer Way at 10:44 a.m. It was unknown if any mail was stolen.

FORGERY: A victim in the 6100 block of E. Mercer Way said at 1:30 p.m. that someone was using his debit card information to pay rent and possibly load cards at Starbucks.

THEFT: A man in the 2700 block of 78th Ave. SE discovered at 6:15 p.m. that his front vehicle plate had been swapped with a stolen one from Seattle.

MORE THEFT: A bike was reported stolen from a storage garage in an apartment building in the 3200 block of E. Lexington Way at 8:13 p.m., for a loss of $200. The victim noticed that many other locks were cut and about 10 bikes were missing from the rack.

PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 2600 block of 77th Ave. SE at 1:59 p.m., and items were stolen, for a loss of $1,335.

PROWLING: A car prowl was reported at 2:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of 84th Ave. SE.
