Islanders report car prowls, burglaries, fraud | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

March 14

PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle in the 9800 block of SE 40th St. was prowled in a carport overnight, and cash and DVDs were taken.

MORE PROWLING: Change and CDs were stolen after a suspect prowled an unlocked vehicle in a driveway in the 7600 block of SE 22nd St. at 3:07 p.m.

TRESPASS: A suspect took covers off some bicycles in the 9800 block of SE 40th St. at 3:44 p.m.. Nothing was reported stolen.

March 16

BURGLARY: A victim’s unsecured garage window was unlawfully entered in the 2700 block of 62nd Ave. SE. Tools were out of their usual space, and a radio was reported missing at 4:10 p.m.

March 17

PROWLING: A victim’s vehicle was forcefully entered through a shattered window in the 8400 block of SE 26th St. at 10:43 a.m. Her purse was taken.

MISCHIEF: The rear driver’s side window of a victim’s vehicle was shattered in the 3200 block of 80th Ave. SE. at 2:23 p.m., causing about $300 in damage. A small piece of firewood found in the backseat was likely the object used.

BURGLARY: At 2:33 p.m., a victim reported two storage room burglaries in her apartment complex on Sunset Highway. A suitcase was stolen.

FRAUD: Identity theft was reported in the 8500 block of SE 80th St. at 3:50 p.m.

March 18

DUI: A vehicle with a headlight out was stopped in the 8000 block of N. Mercer Way at 12:06 a.m. A strong odor of intoxicants was coming from the vehicle. The driver, who showed a high level of intoxication, was arrested and processed by MIPD, with BAC results of .116 and .118.

PROWLING: An unsecured vehicle was reported prowled in the 8600 block of SE 60th St. at 9:56 a.m.

MORE PROWLING: A car prowl was reported at 10:09 a.m. in the 6100 block of 93rd Ave. SE. Theft and identity theft were also reported.
