Islanders report prowls, car theft in secure garages | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

July 10

MISCHIEF: A graffiti tag, reading “DOAC” or something similar, was spray painted on the bathroom wall of a store in the 7800 block of SE 28th St.

July 11

PROWLING: The passenger window of a vehicle in the 2000 block of 84th Ave. SE was broken at 10:59 a.m. The car was entered, but nothing was taken.

MORE PROWLING: The passenger window of a car in the 2000 block of 84th Ave. SE was broken, and the victim’s wallet was stolen from the glovebox, at 11:35 a.m. The victim’s credit cards were used in Seattle.

FRAUD: A man in the 4300 block of 90th Ave. SE said at 7:24 p.m. that he received a credit card. He believes someone used his personal information to apply for it.

July 13

FRAUD: A victim in the 4400 block of 86th Ave. SE said at 10:54 a.m. that their Bank of America account was fraudulently accessed to send $421 via Paypal.

PROWLING: Numerous vehicles were reported prowled at 4:20 p.m. and 5:41 p.m. in the Island Corporate Center parking garage. Items of unknown value were stolen. Property damage was also reported.

THEFT: A Range Rover was stolen from a victim’s garage at 7 p.m. in the 8200 block of SE 28th St.

BURGLARY: A secure condo building in the 2900 block of 81st Place SE was unlawfully entered at 8 p.m. A car key was stolen from a condo, and the car was taken, for a loss of $95,000.

MORE PROWLING: A victim reported that their vehicle was prowled in the 7800 block of SE 28th St. at 2:07 p.m. Their driver’s side front and rear doors windows were shattered, and a bag containing business paperwork was stolen.

ANOTHER PROWL: A vehicle was prowled in a parking garage in the 7800 block of SE 30th St. at 2:17 p.m.

WARRANT ARREST: A subject was arrested at Kent Jail and booked into Issaquah Jail on a confirmed warrant at 12:36 a.m.

PROWLING: A car prowl was reported in the 2600 block of 76th Ave. SE at 4:05 p.m.

MORE PROWLING: Three vehicles were reported prowled in a secure garage at Aljoya at 4:19 p.m. Windows had been shattered, and a backpack was stolen.

July 14

PROWLING: A woman said her car was prowled at 11:59 a.m. in the 7500 block of SE 24th St.

July 15

THEFT: A subject placed about four bottles of alcohol into a backpack and walked out without paying at 8:13 p.m. in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE.

PROWLING: Two Coffee Crisp candy bars, Canadian cash, a Nexus card and a passport were reported stolen after a car prowl in the 8500 block of SE 78th St. at 10:30 a.m.
