Islanders report thefts of mail, tools, boat outdrive, generator | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Jan. 1

REPORT: A subject tripped over a parking curb and fell on his elbow in front of Fire Station 91 at 10:03 a.m. Aid personnel looked at him, but he denied further treatment and left in his vehicle.

BURGLARY: A home in the 4100 block of 80th Ave. SE was forcibly burglarized between Dec. 18 and Jan. 1, and multiple items were reported stolen.

Jan. 2

TRESPASS: Two juveniles were trespassed from a residence in the 3700 block of 84th Ave. SE.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: A subject died from natural causes in the 2900 block of 76th Ave. SE at 10:04 p.m.

Jan. 3

THEFT: Someone stole landscaping tools out of the back of a truck in the 2800 block of 75th Place SE at 11:34 a.m.

MORE THEFT: A man in the 3700 block of 81st Ave. SE said at 2:58 p.m. that the outdrive from his boat was stolen.

IDENTITY THEFT: A man in the 7800 block of SE 72nd St. said his bank notified him that someone had unsuccessfully attempted to submit an application for an Amazon.com Visa credit card using his name, date of birth and Social Security number at 3:29 p.m.

Jan. 4

FRAUD: A victim who lives on Brook Bay Road in Mercer Island wrote and mailed a check, which was most likely stolen from the mailbox of the recipient in Seattle. The check was deposited into a BECU account at an unknown ATM. BECU was contacted and provided information about a possible suspect involved, as well as the account and ATM locations at which multiple checks were deposited.

DOMESTIC: Police responded to a report of assault and battery in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE at 10:42 p.m.

Jan. 5

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE: In the 2200 block of 78th Ave. SE at 6:40 p.m., a subject with a gun and access to other weapons advised his wife that he hated everybody and wanted to kill people. The subject, deemed a danger to himself and others, was involuntarily committed to Overlake Medical Center.

Jan. 6

THEFT: A Yamaha generator was reported stolen from an unlocked storage area in the 7200 block of 93rd Ave. SE at 8:50 a.m., for a loss of $3,000.

PROWLING: A victim reported that their vehicle had been entered in the 7700 block of Sunset Highway at 10:37 a.m., and their garage door opener was stolen, for a loss of $60.

MORE PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle was prowled in the 2400 block of 76th Ave. SE. A briefcase with magazines, two hats and about $25 in cash were reported stolen at 3:19 p.m.
