The Mercer Island girls lacrosse team took one more step closer to the state finals on Friday night, beating Issaquah 21-10 in the quarterfinals.

The Mercer Island girls lacrosse team took one more step closer to the state finals on Friday night, beating Issaquah 21-10 in the quarterfinals.

The Islanders move forward to play No. 1 Bainbridge on Tuesday night, with the winner moving forward to the May 19 state championship game.

Against Issaquah on Friday, Tyler Sherper scored seven goals, tying her regular season best performance. The junior has had three games with seven goals this spring.

Dulce Moll added four goals of her own, with six assists and a draw control. Madison Blackburn put up three goals for the team, with two ground balls and three draw controls. Elena Skouras posted three goals, while Taylor Dahlgren added two goals, two ground balls and two draw controls. Megan Jemley posted a goal, as did Saffron Snethen. Goalie Erika Eagan made eight saves during the game.

Mercer Island is now 11-2-1 this season, while Issaquah finished with a 12-3 record.

Bainbridge is 10-1-1 this season. The Spartans beat Overlake 17-5 Thursday to advance to the semifinals.

A time and location for Tuesday’s semifinals has not yet been set.
