Mercer Island School District seeks applicants for emergency substitute teachers

Have you thought of becoming a substitute teacher, yet are lacking a current Washington state teaching credential? The Mercer Island School District now seeks candidates for emergency substitute teachers. This is a great role for people who desire a flexible work schedule without weekend hours, enjoy working with young people and most importantly want to make a difference in our students’ lives.

As an emergency substitute teacher you work on-call, sometimes with short notice, substituting for a regular classroom teacher. You maintain a safe, positive learning environment while implementing the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.

Minimum criteria to apply are:

• Experience working with children

• Bachelor’s degree

• Ability to effectively communicate with students and adults clearly and confidently

• Ability to use computers and technical equipment

• Available to work on-call
