Mercer Island to host Community Appreciation Day on April 28

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department has organized a new fun-filled, free event: Community Appreciation Day. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 28 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC).

All Islanders are invited to stop by the MICEC for treats, refreshments, drop-in recreation programs, use of the Fitness Room and more, including a “Wellness Worthy Treat Bar” available all day, entertainment throughout the day, featuring local musicians and a Fitness Room orientation provided by MIPR personal trainer Susie Rosenstein.

Here’s the event schedule:

8 a.m. to 9 a.m.: Drop-in Power Flex

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Gourmet Beverage Bar

9 a.m. to 5 p.m: Raffle prizes

9 a.m. to 11 a.m: Pancake Breakfast

9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m: Drop-in Pickleball

10 a.m to noon: Indoor Playground

11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Nancy Stewart, children’s singer-songwriter

Noon to 4 p.m.: Hotdog BBQ

1 p.m.: Meet and Greet with City Manager Julie Underwood

2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Drop-in Open Gym

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Drop-in Badminton
