Mercer Island to host open house for I-90 trail signage | City briefs

Open house for I-90 trail signage is April 27

With the help of a citizen’s stakeholder group, the city is designing wayfinding signage to be used to direct motorists to Mercer Island Town Center and guide pedestrians and bicyclist from the Aubrey Davis I-90 Regional Trails to local amenities and attractions in the Town Center.

The city is seeking the community’s help in selecting a preferred concept for the signage that is attractive, aesthetically pleasing, consistent and meaningful to the community. An open house is scheduled for April 27 at City Hall.

Interested residents are invited to drop by any time between 5:30-7 p.m. to view and comment on the proposed preliminary concepts. For more information, contact Assistant City Engineer Anne Tonella-Howe at 206-275-7813.

Drug Take Back Day is April 29

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the city of Mercer Island are coordinating a nationwide drug “take-back” day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Island City Hall.

This one-day event provides residents with a no-cost, anonymous collection of unwanted and expired prescriptions (including narcotics) as well as over-the-counter medicines.

Take drop-offs to the west side of the building, in the lower loading dock area. Learn what is accepted here (no marijuana or needles). Call 206-275-7755 with questions.
