Mercer Island YFS starts new support group for parents of children with special needs

Beginning Jan. 13, 2017, Mercer Island Youth and Family Services will be starting a caregivers’ support group for parents of children with autism or other intellectual disabilities.

The group will provide caregivers a community and a place for support, self-care, as well as an avenue to engage in discussions free of judgment.

The caregivers’ group, currently being called Mercer Island PROPS: “Parents Reaching out to Parents about Special Needs” will be free of charge and held once a month at Mercer Island YFS brick building in Luther Burbank Park.

The group will accept eight to 10 parents, screening appointments will take place through Dec. 13.
