School district is recruiting bus drivers

The Mercer Island School District is actively seeking new bus drivers for the 2017-18 school year.

A new driver class is planned for August. Passage of the free training course provides a CDL B license with school bus endorsement.

“We provide all of the training needed to be a bus driver and will look at folks who want to drive all different configurations of routes,” said David Bynum, director of transportation. “We are a close-knit team and enjoy working with the great kids in this community.”

Drivers who qualify are eligible as a district employee to benefits and can work just a partial shift, all day or on a substitute basis. Other district work may be available as well.
