MIPD tracks stolen credit cards to catch car prowl suspects | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Nov. 21

THEFT: A contractor was paid $6,983.06 for services in advance, and then avoided all contact with their employer. The subject has a history of similar fraudulent acts in Mercer Island. The incident was reported at 2:49 p.m. in the 4200 block of 89th Ave. SE.

Nov. 28

MORE THEFT: A man reported at 11:34 a.m. that someone had stolen his bicycle from the bike rack in the main floor parking garage at the Island Square Apartments. He believed it had occurred sometime around the last week of October.

Nov. 29

WARRANT ARREST: A Mercer Island warrant subject was arrested by the King County Sheriff’s Office and booked into SCORE Jail at 3:28 a.m.

FRAUD: A victim in the 9200 block of SE 46th St. reported identity theft at 8:56 a.m., with accounts opened locally using their identity.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: A woman said at 11:07 a.m. that someone shot a BB gun at her house, which is under construction in the 2400 block of W. Mercer Way, causing damage to a window.

PROWLING: A car prowl was reported at 12:17 p.m. in the Lid parking lot. The driver’s window was broken, and a purse was taken.

Nov. 30

BURGLARY: An unlocked attached garage was entered overnight in the 6900 block of 95th Ave. SE, and items were stolen. A vehicle in the driveway was also prowled, for a total loss of $880.

PACKAGE THEFT: Two packages were delivered to a house in the 3800 block of 81st Ave. SE. At 7:54 a.m., a woman reported one package was stolen, and the other was opened and its contents were taken. There was a third opened and empty package left on the porch that was addressed to a neighbor one street over from her.

MORE THEFT: Theft was reported at 9:07 a.m. in the 8000 block of SE 36th St.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Two mailboxes were reported damaged and entered at 10:43 a.m. in the 8100 block of W. Mercer Way, causing $300 in damage.

PACKAGE THEFT, CONTINUED: A package addressed to a victim in the 3800 block of 82nd Ave. SE was found at the scene of another reported package theft. Police contacted the victim, who is currently out of town but guessed the package contained Bose headphones. He said other packages may have been taken, as well.

PROWLING: A vehicle prowl was reported at 4 p.m. in the 9500 block of SE 36th St.

Dec. 1

PROWLING: A car prowl was reported at 6:51 p.m. in the north parking lot of Luther Burbank. The victim was able to get the transaction history for their stolen credit cards, and officers responded to the north QFC parking lot and contacted suspects, who were detained and processed. The suspect vehicle was impounded to the police station for a search warrant.
