Mostly Music in the Park series concludes Thursday

In the final concert of the Mercer Island Arts Council’s free annual summer series, the band Swamp Soul will perform Cajun and zydeco music at 7 p.m. on Aug. 18 in Mercerdale Park.

The concert series, which featured various bands and artists from around the region performing a wide variety of music from big band jazz to Afro-world fusion, was sponsored by JayMarc Homes, New Seasons Market, Mercer Island Center for the Arts (MICA), Key Bank, Mercer Island Community Fund, Mercer Island Chiropractic, Mercer Island FC, Sport Clips Factoria and Smith Brothers Farms.

Bands in the 2016 lineup included Ben Rice Trio, Coco Loco, Maya Soleil and Jazz Underground. The Mostly Music selection committee, consisting of a few Arts Council members and community members, screens all the entries and votes on the bands.

If you would like to support the concerts to ensure they continue, consider making a donation. Donations can be sent to: City of Mercer Island, Mostly Music in the Park, 2040 84th Ave. SE.
