Several Islanders report bike thefts | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 3

THEFT: A bicycle was stolen from the 2700 block of 69th Ave. SE at 8:31 p.m.

Aug. 4

THEFT: A victim in the 7700 block of Westwood Lane reported at 11:40 a.m. that $18,700 in jewelry was stolen from her closet.

MORE THEFT: A key, registration and hook were reported stolen from a boat at Appleton Dock in the 4800 block of E. Mercer Way at 3:32 p.m.

Aug. 6

FRAUD: A victim in the 9100 block of Fortuna Drive reported a fraudulent charge on her Amazon account at 5:14 p.m., for a loss of $200.

Aug. 8

THEFT: A bicycle was reported stolen off a roof rack mounted to a parked vehicle overnight in the 7700 block of Sunset Highway.

Aug. 10

FRAUD: A victim in the 9000 block of E. Shorewood Drive reported at 5:22 p.m. that their credit card number was used at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Oregon to purchase about $2,600 in items.

Aug. 13

PROWLING: A woman parked her car at 1:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of 76th Ave. SE. When she returned at noon, she found that the front right window of her car was broken, and a Victoria’s Secret bag containing $400 in makeup had been stolen.

MORE PROWLING: Another car prowl occurred in the 2600 block of 76th Ave. SE at 1:08 p.m. Theft and property damage were also reported.

ANOTHER PROWL: An unlocked vehicle was prowled in an unsecured garage in the 8600 block of SE 27th St. at 1:33 p.m. A cell phone was taken.

THEFT: A victim, who was out of town for a week, returned to the 2600 block of 77th Ave. SE at 1:25 p.m. to find that two mountain bikes were stolen from a secured parking garage, for a loss of $6,000. The bikes had been secured by a cable, which was cut with a pair of bolt cutters.
