Police blotter for Sept. 6-9.

Sept. 6

Reckless burning: At 9:04 a.m. in the 6900 block of 96th Avenue Southeast, a homeowner started a pit fire. The fire spread to a neighbor’s tree. It was extinguished before the arrival of the Mercer Island Fire Department. There was property damage.

Forgery: At 10:27 a.m. in the 3200 block of 78th Avenue Southeast, a victim reported a forged check in the amount of $4,997.

Minor consumption: At 11:03 a.m. in the 4200 block of 88th Avenue Southeast, police contacted five juvenile males who were in possession of alcohol. One of the males was holding a beer can and the other four admitted to drinking. The minors were released to their parents.

Sept. 7

Theft: At 2:24 p.m. in the 8400 block of Southeast 36th Street, a subject had two packages taken from their residence. One package had a gray Herschel gym bag. The other contained five Washington Husky tickets for the game that day.

Sept. 8

Stolen tools: At 1 p.m. in the 3900 block of Greenbrier Lane, someone stole tools from a home. The homeowner was unsure when they were taken since he is only at the home from time to time. A video camera in place did not capture anything.

Sept. 9

Fraud: At 12:43 p.m. in the 7600 block of West Mercer Way, a victim gave out their social security number to someone posing as a Social Security Administration representative. American Express also contacted the victim days ago about a fraudulent purchase attempt for $539. The card was closed.
