ARNE LEO CARSON

1929 – 2017

Arne L. Carson died peacefully on April 17, 2017 at Marianwood Nursing Care in Issaquah after extended illnesses. He was 87 years old.

He was born at home on NW 68th St in Ballard in 1929, to Jacob Carson and Alma Kohlberg. He joined half sister Delite Carson (Larson). He graduated from Ballard High School, and was an English major at the University of Washington before starting his own business -The Carson Agency – at which he was a manufacturers’ agent in the plumbing business for over 50 years in Seattle.

His 3 sons remember him for teaching them all to fish… pride in his Swedish heritage…and his love of Dixieland Jazz. He loved to travel, and was most proud of climbing Mt. Sinai in his mid 50’s. He refused to discard the hiking boots for years. “Oh no, I climbed Mt. Sinai in those boots, I’m keeping them.” Arne had a robust sense of humor, and the sweetest disposition of any man. He was kind. He loved his dogs, especially poodles. He and his wife Connie lived in Mercer Island for 24 years.

His survivors include his wife of 37 years Connie Ausman; his sons, Ken (Sally Foster), grandsons, Ned and Sam of Cambridge, MA; Dan (Pam), grandson Travis of West Seattle; Matt (Judy Maus), granddaughters, Julia (Rob) and Valerie of West Seattle; stepson Andrew Luckey (Hazel) of Ridgefield, CT.

There will be no memorial service. However, the family suggests remembrances in his name to The Southern Poverty Law Center, or Jewish Family Service of Seattle. His ashes will be scattered on the shores of Lake Washington, his beloved playground.
