GREG (MAEHARA) KITASHIMA

Greg (Maehara) Kitashima was born April 19, 1989, and passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the age of 27.

Greg was raised on Mercer Island and attended Mercer Island public schools, graduating from MIHS in 2007. He then attended Fordham University in The Bronx, NY, and the University of San Diego, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate. After graduation, Greg joined Kitashima Wealth Advisors where he became an integral and innovative partner, using his gifts for research and communication to help his many clients steer through important financial decisions.

Greg was an accomplished athlete who excelled at baseball and basketball. While a student at MIHS, he was a member of the varsity baseball team while still only a freshman, and also played varsity basketball. His teammates and schoolmates nicknamed him “Panda,” As a basketball and baseball player, he was smart, tenacious, creative, and often unpredictable. He had an innate ability to create something out of nothing, and with these gifts, became a fan favorite.

Greg’s life is full of moments and accomplishments that show his extraordinary compassion for his fellow human beings. He didn’t seem to believe in the concept of “casual acquaintance;” every relationship was the most important relationship in his life. If you were in need, he would do everything in his power to give you what you needed.

Greg is survived by his father Gary Maehara, his mother and business partner, Cheryl Kitashima, his talented sister, Whitney Maehara, and his loving fiancee, Adrianna Reed.
