JEANNETTE (JANE) MOST STROHM

Jeannette (Jane) Most Strohm, 92, died Aug. 31, 2018 after a short illness. She was a Mercer Island resident since 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray.

Jane was born in Philadelphia, PA on Oct. 23, 1925 to Elmer and Isabel Holmes Most. She grew up in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia and graduated from Penn State in 1948.

She married George Raymond (Ray) Strohm on Aug. 29, 1949 at Holy Innocents Church in Philadelphia and moved to the Seattle Area. Jane and Ray lived in the Groveland Park neighborhood for many years before moving to Covenant Shore Retirement Community in 1998.

Jane was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, she taught Sunday school, was a member of the vestry and helped in many other ways.

She taught school for a couple of years before their 3 children arrived in 1951-54. As the children grew she returned to teaching at Mercer Crest Elementary School and retired from there.

Jane and Ray enjoyed sailing, skiing and family, she also loved swimming.

Survivors include sons, Dave of White Salmon, WA, Don of Snohomish, WA and daughter Lee Strohm of Harstine Island, Shelton, WA.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4000 86th Ave. SE, Mercer Island.
