Julia was born August 2, 1925 in Phelps, New York and graduated from Geneseo State College in 1947 with a degree in Library Science. After meeting her future husband, Roger, in Plattsburgh, New York, the couple moved to Stamford, CT, where they raised their four children. She was recognized for her many years of volunteer service at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and was a longstanding member of the Seattle Opera Guild and Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. She also managed the books for Wells Enterprises, a company founded by her husband and son.
From their first year of marriage, Julia and Roger spent summers on Cape Cod at their house in Orleans, MA, where the family has continued to gather for over 50 years. The couple also traveled extensively.

Julia made good friends wherever she went and knew how to be a good friend herself. She was an avid reader, a renowned party planner and always keen for an adventure or new experience. Her dry wit, her practical approach to life and her endless patience were appreciated by friends and family.
A memorial service will be held over the summer at the family house in Orleans. Julia Harland Wells August 2, 1925 — May 6, 2017.
