LARA ANNE URSIN CUMMINGS

Lara Anne Ursin Cummings, 47, of Pullman, passed away August 11, 2018 at her Pullman home.

Lara was born June 11, 1971 in Newport Beach, CA to Bjarne & Mary (Locke) Ursin. The family moved to the Seattle area in 1976 where Lara grew up and attended school. She graduated from Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bellevue, WA.

Lara came to Pullman and began her college education at Washington State University, graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in English. She returned to Seattle where she worked at Overlake Hospital and later for the Archdiocese of Seattle. Lara continued her education at the University of South Carolina where she received a Master of Library and Information Science. Lara returned to Pullman in 2001 and began her career at WSU as a science reference librarian.

Having met Joel Cummings, they were married on July 3, 2004 in Bellingham, WA and have made Pullman home since 2001. Lara became an instruction librarian until 2013 when she became the agriculture Librarian at WSU. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished the role of mom. Her family was of great importance to her and Lara always made them the center of her life. She loved being with people and cherished all her many friendships. Lara enjoyed cooking, especially gourmet cooking. She loved to entertain and hosted the US Agricultural Information Network Conference in 2018. Lara was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pullman.

Lara is survived by her husband Joel and children George & Esther Marie “Emie” at the Pullman home; her parents Bjarne & Mary Ursin of Bellingham; her brother Jonathon Ursin of Seattle; her sister Stephanie Roberts of Seminole, FL and three nephews Gregory Roberts, Zachary Roberts and Joshua Roberts. She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Ursin.

The viewing will be held at Kimball Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 17 from 6-8 pm. A Rosary/Vigil service will be held at 9 am on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 440 NE Ashe St., Pullman. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the Rosary at 10 am.
