MARY LOUISE DAVIS

Mary Louise Davis passed away May 10, 2018 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born January 1, 1932 in Somerville, Mass.; preceded in death by husband David (Phil) Davis, her parents Lawrence and Evelyn Chidester, and siblings Beverly Young and Bill Chidester. She is survived by her five children: Jennifer Ferguson, Howard Davis, Melissa Reed, Larry Davis, Robert (Bob) D. Davis, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Mary Louise is best known and loved for her vivacious and caring nature, and her musical talent as a violinist. She played with Seattle Thalia for 18 years, Seattle Philharmonic for 20 years, and Issaquah Orchestra for 10 years. She participated in the Music Performance Group, and was a longtime member of a string quartet until very recently. Her music inspired many, and was the source of wonderful friendships.

Mary Louise was a devoted member of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church (MIPC) since 1954. At MIPC, she sang in the choir for 50 years, served on the worship committee as an Elder, and recently as a Deacon. She also participated in the music and life of the Covenant Shores church over the last 5 years.

A memorial service will be held May 26th at 2:00 PM at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow. For those who wish, contributions may be sent to the MIPC Music Department.
