ROSEANN HEIM HALL

1928-2018

Roseann Heim Hall, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many passed away peacefully at her Mercer Island home on November 1, 2018 at the age of 90.

Roseann Carole was born September 14, 1928 to Harold and Minna Heim. She grew up on Long Island, New York along with her older brother Hal, whom she adored and admired. She attended Manhasset Secondary School where she was a cheerleader, diver and class salutatorian. Roseann enjoyed English horse-back riding and was an experienced jumper. It was at Manhasset watching her brother play football that she developed her life long love of the sport which would become her Saturday afternoon pastime for the next 75 years.

Roseann attended Wheaton College and the University of Michigan, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in political science. She then attended University of Michigan Law School and went on to work for Time, Inc. in New York City. She had a keen interest in politics and was politically savvy for a woman of her day. It was at the University of Michigan that Roseann met Coleman Pritchett Hall, her husband and best friend for more than 50 years. They were married in 1952 and settled on Mercer Island where they raised their four children.

Roseann was an active member of the Women’s University Club and was a dedicated member of their chorus for more than 50 years. She spoke French, wrote poetry and enjoyed antiquing. Sailing with her husband was one of her greatest pleasures. Her civic contributions to the Mercer Island community were substantial. Her home was filled with the warmth of family, classical music and always a cup of hot tea.

The core of Roseann’s life was her family, deep love of country and her faith in God. She lived by example, reading the Bible and praying daily.

She was a dedicated member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mercer Island for over 60 years, serving in every capacity.

Her legacy is her gracious spirit, limitless generosity and compassion for others.

Roseann was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman P. Hall, and survived by her children Martha Geloneck, Rosemary (Winston) Clevenger, Andrew Hall (Rosemary McCauley), Peter Hall; grandchildren Casey (Milla) Geloneck, Kelly Geloneck, Davis Clevenger (Melissa Fryday), James Clevenger, Spencer Clevenger and great- grandchildren Ryan West, Annabelle Clevenger and Jack Geloneck.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either of Roseann’s favorite charities, First Church of Christ, Scientist Mercer Island or The Disabled American Veterans Association.

A private family service will take place at a later date.
