Is there anyone else out there who is really getting tired of hearing extremely loud boats running back and forth along our shoreline? We are not allowed to drive cars or motorcycles with excessively loud mufflers; even planes are required to mitigate the noise they impose on our citizens. But boats seem to have a free reign.

This is not a huge problem — it is a very small handful of individuals, perhaps only two or three boats, who insist on disturbing tens of thousands of residents on both shores of the lake so that they can get their jollies with boats that can be heard miles away.

I have contacted both King County Council members and the Mercer Island Police Department, but neither seems willing to take on this issue.

If anyone out there feels the same way I do, just wanting these individuals to muffle their boats like we are all required to muffle our cars, then please contact me at homeguy@coldwellbanker.com or (206) 232-3075.

Maybe as a group we can get something accomplished.
