Mercer Island Park and Ride parking relief suggestion
August 17, 2010 · Updated 9:41 AM
This is a suggestion for alleviating a little of the local usage problem at the park and ride lot on the Island. It was used by the city of Orinda some years ago to save some space for local users of the transit system. They set aside and marked off a section of the park and ride lot and prohibited people from parking there before 10 a.m. At that time, the barriers were removed and the locals could park there and catch a commuter train into San Francisco. It worked quite well. It wouldn’t cost anything to try it!
